How to Download and Extract Data Files
Some of the handouts provided on this website include sample data files that can be used for hands-on practice. The data files are stored in self-extracting archives. The archives must be downloaded and executed in order to extract the data files.

Downloading Data Files
- Open Internet Explorer
. - Type the web address provided in the Downloading the Data Files section of the handout in the Address bar and press the [Enter] key. The File Download dialog box opens.

- Click the Save button. The Save As dialog box opens.

- Specify a location to save the file.
- Click the Save button. The Download complete dialog box opens.

- Click the Close button if the Download complete dialog box does not close automatically.
Extracting Data Files
- Open Windows Explorer
. - Navigate to the location where the file was saved.
- Double-click the file. The Open File dialog box opens.

- Click the Run button. The WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box opens.

- Click the Browse button and specify a location to extract the data files.
- Click the Unzip button. A confirmation dialog box opens indicating the number of data files extracted.

- Click the OK button to close the confirmation dialog box.
- Click the Close button to close the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box.
The data files can now be accessed using Windows Explorer. As you go through the handout, double-click the corresponding data files to open them in the appropriate application and follow along the step-by-step instructions.
