The Dell Configuration is provided on the Dell Website. After you click on the link above, the auto login will take you directly to the Cal State L.A.'s Dell web page. The web page will look like this:

Once you Log- In, build your Dell Computer. Dell computers matching or exceeding baseline and high-end specifications can now be found at the Cal State LA Premier pages. This link takes you to the customized Dell Website for Cal State L.A. Once you are on the Dell website, select Your Dell Store from the Purchasing Tools menu (located on the left). The screen will look like this:

From this page select ôYour Dell Store.ö This will take you to a page that has four models already built that match or exceed baseline standards. Click on any of these links to see or customize the configurations further.  The page will look similar to the one below.

The baseline desktop configuration is the most popular model.  This model as well as the other three listed can be upgraded or enhanced beyond the baseline minimum specifications (for an added cost) by selecting higher grade components from the drop down boxes as shown in the graphic below.

Most campus users prefer the pre-configured baseline desktop, or you can use this system to have Dell Custom build a machine for you. The purchasing department requires a formal quote directly from dell rather than the their website. The instructions below help you obtain a formal quote from a dell representative. 

Obtaining a formal Quote from Dell

When you are finished making changes to your system, click the "Add to Order Form" to save the order. 

Your Order Form will display your selected system on the next window. Then, click on Request Sales Help. The window should look like this:

Next, select the option "I want a sales rep to review my order before I place it." and click on "Continue."

In the next two windows, fill out your contact information that dell will use to confirm your system's quote. Click Continue.

On the next web page, confirm your request and click Submit Request. 

A dell sales representative will send you a confirmed official quote. Print the official quote and attach to your requisition. Click here to download a sample Dell Desktop Baseline purchase requisition for leasing.  Leasing rates vary as do purchase prices. Currently, exact lease payments will not be known until the purchasing department and Dell Computers agree to a leasing schedule. For Macintosh, there is an option to purchase equipment for an amount not to exceed the Fair Market Value (FMV) of the equipment upon the expiration of lease. For Dell, departments have the option of selecting a $1.00 Buy-out if the order is larger than $5,000.00, otherwise it will be a Fair Market Value (FMV) lease.
