How to check the McAfee VirusScan version number

Note: If you are a Mac user and still have McAfee Virex, your anti-virus application is out of date.

PC Computers

1. Check to see if the VirusScan VShield icon is in the system tray.

2. Right-click the VShield icon. The VirusScan shortcut menu will appear.

3. Select About VirusScan Enterprise... The VirusScan Enterprise window will open. The version number immediately follows the name.

4. Click the OK button to close the About VirusScan Enterprise window.

Macintosh Computers

1. Locate the VirusScan button on the Dock

2. If you mouse over the VirusScan button, the version number should appear. If it does not appear, proceed to step 3.

3. Click the button to launch VirusScan.

4. Click the VirusScan menu and select About VirusScan.

5. The About window will open with the full VirusScan software version number.

6. To close VirusScan, Click the VirusScan menu and select Quit VirusScan.
