ITS Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

Peter Quan became the vice president Information Technology Services and chief technology officer for Cal State L.A. in January 2003, providing overall administrative direction for Information Technology Services (ITS) to fully support the University's strategic plan and technology needs.

As the chief technology officer for the campus, the vice president serves on the President's Executive Officers' Council and various other campus committees. In addition, the vice president provides advice and counsel on information technology to the president, the provost/vice president for Academic Affairs, the vice president/chief financial officer of Administration and Finance, the vice president of Institutional Advancement and the vice president of Student Affairs.

Peter Quan serves as chair of the University Baseline Committee and co-chair of the University Web Services Committee. In addition, Mr. Quan serves as the campus designee on system-wide initiatives including the Information Technology Advisory Committee, CSU Benchmarking Project Task Force, and the Project Advisory Committee for the Common Management System. Other memberships include the PeopleSoft Strategic Advisory Council, PeopleSoft Higher Education Product Advisory Council, and EDUCAUSE.

Mr. Quan, at Cal State L.A. since 1986, served as associate vice president for Information Resources Management from 1993-2002. In this capacity he was responsible for the strategic management of information technology and served as Information Resources Management Program Designee (IRMPD) for the campus.

Prior to coming to Cal State L.A., Mr. Quan served as assistant vice president for Systems at Pepperdine University, responsible for the management oversight of the Systems Division with an operating budget of over $4.5 million, capital budget of $4.8 million, and a staff of 70.

Mr. Quan's community activities include INFOLINE, an information and referral agency serving Los Angeles County, where he serves as vice chair of the Board of Directors and chair of the INFOLINE Operations Committee.
