Malta Summer Program 2015​​

Program Snapshot:

The Chamber Music Workshop in Malta is an opportunity for music students, and students from the university who perform musical instruments, to engage in a series of master classes, coaching sessions and performances, with an internationally acclaimed faculty.  Each day students will have the opportunity to work with faculty coaches on selected repertoire.

  • Applicants must perform an audition with Professor John Kennedy 
Units:  1 unit
Housing:  Dormitory style housing will be provided. 
Program Cost:  $2,510 (includes 1 unit course, Master Class Fee, housing, some meals, fieldtrips, medical insurance, PaGE administrative costs).  Airfare and personal spending are NOT included in the program cost.

Faculty Bios

John M Kennedy is Professor of Music Composition in the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Cal State LA. He has received multiple performances of his original compositions in North America, Europe and Asia, from top ensembles and soloists including the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble and bass-baritone Nicholas Isherwood. He has been recognized annually by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and was named a Cal State LA Outstanding Professor in 2013. This past summer, he served as a panelist at the World Saxophone Congress in Strasbourg, France; presented master classes in composition and improvisation at the Malta International Music Festival and Competition in Valletta, Malta; was an honor consultant and juror at the Second Hong Kong International Music Competition; and presented a lecture-recital with guitarist and Cal State LA instructor Satik Andriassian at the US Embassy in Beijing, China.
