Requesting an Advising Appointment

All freshman and sophomore students; junior probation students: Ms. Marylu Castillo

Appointment Categories:

Honors College General Advisement (Fall and Spring) - Select "General Advising" as the appointment reason if you are coming in for your semesterly freshman or sophomore annual advisement appointment, or if you are requesting a general advisement appointment. Please type whether you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior student in the comments box.

Honors Thesis - If you are an Honors College student with questions about the thesis, select "General Advising" as the appointment reason and type "Honors Thesis" in the comments box.

Probation – Select this as your appointment reason to discuss Honors College probation. Please type whether you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior student in the comments box.

Internship Opportunities- Select this as your appointment reason if you are an Honors College student seeking feedback on an internship application. Please email a draft of your application at least 1 business day before your meeting and in a Word doc format.

Research Opportunities – Select this as your appointment reason if you are an Honors College student seeking to discuss research opportunities or if you are requesting feedback on a research experience application. If requesting feedback, email a draft of your application at least 1 business day before your meeting and in a Word doc format.

Graduate School – If you are an Honors College student seeking to discuss graduate school or if you are requesting feedback on a graduate school application. If requesting feedback, email a draft of your application at least 1 business day before your meeting and in a Word doc format.

How to Schedule an Appointment

  1. Click the SCC logo above and login with your Cal State LA credentials

  2. Schedule Advising: Select “Get Advising”

  3. Why would you like to meet with an Advisor: Select “Academic Advising”

  4. Appointment Reason: Select from the following “General Advising,” "Probation," "Internship Opportunities," "Research Opportunities," or "Graduate School"

  5. Location: Select “Honors College Advising Center”

  6. Select Advisor: "Name of Advisor"

  7. Select Availability: "Date and Time"

  8. Comments Box: Please provide details in the comments box about the reason for your visit

What to Do Before Your Appointment:

  • Update your roadmap on Moodle
  • Upload your latest resume on Moodle
  • Acquire your supporting advisement documents (major requirements, minor requirements) and bring them to your appointment

Important:

Please make sure you arrive to your appointment on time. Cancelations or changes in appointment date and time must occur through SSC at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
