Future firefighters are getting in shape with the help of the KNS instructor Christine Hsieh. Since getting her KNS MS degree at Cal State LA (’16), she has been a valuable instructor in the KNS school. One of her courses is called Fire Agility (soon to be renamed Emergency Responder Training). It is a physical activity class that prepares aspiring emergency responders for the physical demands of their future jobs. Students pursuing a career as a Firefighter or Law Enforcement Officer build basic strength and conditioning required to pass their physical activity tests, and for success in their respective careers. This class emphasizes fundamental movement patterns to reduce risk of injury and promote career longevity. Christine’s class has been a success and the future fire fighters have nothing but praise for her:  “What an outstanding coach. The class in itself is tough and is meant to be tough … to train you to become a fire fighter. But the coach adjusts to her student's weaknesses and works her way around it to condition them for future workouts. She makes sure no students are at any risk for injury and checks up on them to make sure they are doing their exercises correctly. I would love to have her as my coach again any time.”
