Eagle-Con LA 2018

Aliens, Monsters, & Others

Eagle-Con is a three-day convention that brings together science fiction, fantasy, comic books, and superheroes, as well as insider views of these highly creative genres. Nested on the campus of Cal State LA, home of the Golden Eagles, Eagle-Con explores issues of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, identity, and representation in science fiction and fantasy across media while also celebrating the boundless imaginations of artists and writers that turn ordinary humans into lifelong devotees of these genres.

You are cordially invited to the Annual Undergraduate Exhibition. 

This year’s Annual Undergraduate Exhibition Spring 2018 presents works by 93 students in the Department of Art in various media including Animation, Ceramics, Drawing, Graphic Design, Installation, Interactive Design, Painting, Print Making, Sculpture and more. The exhibition is curated by the gallery student staff – Alex Rodriguez, Jed Surio, Nina Gibson, Tammie Nguyen and Uriel Sandoval.

Exhibition Reception: March 15, Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The conflict in the play illuminates our shared human struggle to prevail against all crisis, especially the most deceitful, with care, equity, humility, and mindfulness. Hamlet engages our unique senses and enlivens our collective soul to consider the ultimate quest and goal of humanity: Personhood. Given the socio-political moment we find ourselves living in — reflecting upon Hamlet’s philosophical discourse is time well spent.

Covering the gamut of current discussions in the entertainment industries, this panel discussions will include: the intersectionality of roles for people of color, pay equity for women, sexual harassment in the workplace, roles and casting of transgender and non-binary performers, #TimesUp, Inclusion Riders, Akuarel, MMCA. Panelists include David White from SAG-AFTRA, Mai-Tran Lanza from WGA along with members of AEA, DGA, and others.
