On behalf of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival board, I would like to invite you to attend our Regional Theatre Scholarship auditions Friday, February 15th, and Saturday, February 16th, 2008 at Los Angeles, California on the campus of CSU Los Angeles, Festival 40.
KCACTF Region VIII offers Festival participants a wonderful opportunity to take their next step in their educational or professional goals with this chance to be seen and heard by major universities and professional theatre companies. This year there will be no additional fee for participants. All Festival registrants are eligible to participate. Please note: All Next Step participants must show their festival ID at the audition check-in.
Please review the following rules and regulations concerning the auditions:
It is with extreme please that I greet you as the Next Step Coordinator. It
is my aim to make your audition as pleasurable as possible. You have agreed
to be a part of a magnificent organization that includes thousands of students
from all around the country.
To make sure everyone is on the same page we will hold all auditions and interviews
Friday, February 15th and Saturday, February 16th. As soon as I receive
your registration form – via email: crae.Wilson@eac.edu -
I will assign you a time. If you are in a production and have conflicts
please let me know.
Please read below what is required of the participants:
Actors/Singers: The acting and singing auditions will be held Friday, February 15 from 9am until 9pm. Each candidate will have 90 seconds in which to present an acting piece. If you desire to sing, it also needs to be within the 90-second period. A CD player will be provided. A live accompanist will also be will be available. All acting participants must bring at least 40 resumes and 8x10 pictures to give to the various companies, agents and schools seeking performers at the time of the audition. Callbacks will be held Saturday, February 16 between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Callback lists will be posted up on a bulletin board assigned for the purpose.
Dancers: Dance auditions will be held Saturday, February 16 at 1pm. Each Candidate will prepare two minutes of a dance routine and be prepared to present more if the judges so desire. A choreographer will be available to teach a mandatory routine. The dance auditions will be held Saturday, February 16th, from 1pm until 2pm. A dance warm-up will be held at noon the same day.
Technical interviews: The technical interviews will be held Saturday, February 16.from 9am until 2pm. The tech interviews will be limited to five minutes. The presentation should be concise, dynamic, and informative. Each candidate should have a portfolio available for the companies to review. It should be laid out in a way that the company reps can review it quickly and easily. Each candidate should be prepared to confidently and personably answer questions. (Please note what technical items you will need for your presentation)
