INTRODUCTION

Dr. Zapata area of expertise in Public Health, Health Education and Administration. His field experience involves different positions with Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. His last position, before joining the CSULA facukty was as Associate Administrator of the El Monte Comprehensive Health Center. Dr. Zapata's academic background involves Higher education and public health degrees. His philosophy as Calstate professor is to help students to succeed in the pursuit of their goals and aspirations. He strives to obtain excellence in his students. Dr Zapata also has a long experience with volunteer health agencies. He was President of the local Lung Association and member of the National Board of Directors of the American Lung Association for 12 years. He also was associated with the Public Health Foundation of Los Angeles County, Presently he is member of the Los Angels Couynty Advisory Council on Aging.


TEACHING INTERESTS

Dr. Zapata's teaching interest's center around the fields of Community Health, International Health, Epidemiology and Public Health Administration. The main goal is to help students to further their education, so they eventually may take his place in the academic world.


RESEARCH INTERESTS

In the course of teaching Dr. Zapata has prepared ad-hoc text booklets such as "Health Apraisal and Health Education," "Administration of Health Education Programs" "International Health"
