The DESIGN LAB
contains 20 high-end Dell 370 Pentium IV workstations running Windows XP along
with one table each which accommodates space for concept sketching and
ideation. This arrangement stresses the importance of sketching,
incorporating the coverage of design necessary for effective modeling, and
the use of the 3D solid or surface model as a design database that may be
used throughout the entire design process.

The DESIGN LAB is used to expose
students the latest software tools for solid and surface modeling as well
exposing students to concepts related to Product Data Management (PDM) and
digital design and manufacturing. Students use industry-standard state-of-the-art
software which includes: CATIA V5R13,
DELMIA, SolidWorks 2004,
& PDMWorks from Dassault
Systemes & Pro/Engineer
Wildfire by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC).
