TEACHING INTERESTS
One of the most important accomplishments in my life is becoming a teacher. Painting constantly challenges our perception of the world and ourselves. A good painter-teacher is always searching for questions that do not offer easy answers. Because of the multitude of possibilities painting offers it is a fantastic vehicle for investigating the ambiguities and dilemmas of contemporary life along with the subtleties of our interior existence. I have always gained satisfaction in feeing part of an art community. I have taught in universities and colleges in the greater Los Angeles area since 1985. They include Cal Arts, UCLA, Claremont College, Otis and Art Center College of Design

RESEARCH
Painting has been artistic focus of my life since graduating from California Institute of the Arts in 1981. I have experience in a wide variety of mediums from plastics, wood, acrylic, latex and oil paint. In the 1980’s I painted abstractions and now I am involved with representation painting. All forms of art making are of importance including photography, video, sculpture and installation. In my classes I focus not only on issues directly related to the technique of painting but also to contemporary mediums of artistic expression.
