INTRODUCTION Dr. Bell has Bachelor’s degree in Music, and an M.A. in Experimental Psychology (psychoacoustics) from the University of Louisville; In 1986 he received a Ph.D. from UCLA in cognitive psychology and quantitative methods, and has authored over 40 publications, including co-authorship of a new text, Foundations of Audiology: A Practical Approach, and 70 presentations at professional societies related to speech and hearing science and pedagogy. He is currently a Professor of Psychology and Chair of Communication Disorders at Cal State Los Angeles. Prior to arriving at CSLA, Dr. Bell was a professor of Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA, where his research was funded through grants from NIH, NICDS, NIA, and Veteran Affairs R&D to study the evaluation and diagnosis of vestibular, laryngeal, cognitive and hearing functions and the effects of impairments.
