INTRODUCTION
The recipient of numerous grants and fellowships as she continued
her studies, Dr. Matsunaga was elected to both Phi Beta Kappa
and Phi Kappa Phi. She has taught at the University of Hawaii at
Manoa and, most recently, at the University of Montana.
TEACHING INTERESTS
Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Japanese, Dr. Matsunaga
has taught at the University level, in the community, for
businesses and made presentations on the Japanese language and
culture at a variety of schools and institutions.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
She has published and made presentations on the following
subjects: "The role of phonological coding in reading kanji: A
research report and some pedagogical implications" and "Eye
tracking as a reading research methodology: Samples from
Japanese"
