INTRODUCTION
Susan Kane, DMA, is the chair of the vocal arts area and the opera program. A sought after clinician on vocal pedagogy, Dr. Kane, leads a weekly master class on campus. As a performer, Susan's soprano voice can be heard in concert with colleagues both on and off campus.

TEACHING INTERESTS
Dr. Kane loves teaching both graduate and undergraduate voice. Her students have won competitions and contracts both nationally and abroad. The opera program has recently achieved the goal of performing in the Luckman Theatre on campus. As a teacher of both voice and opera, Kane approaches each student and situation considering the unique qualities of each.

Dissertation: Liza Lehmann (1862-1918) Her Times, Roles, and Songs.
Past research: Art Songs by Women Composers, collection & recording.
Present research: Training the next generation of opera singers & Multiple Ways of Knowing and Their Uses in the Vocal Studio.
Future: Zarzuela - a natural genre for college level singers.
