INTRODUCTION
Dr. Freyss received her doctorate in Government from the Claremont
Graduate University and her master's degree in Applied Geography from the
Technical University in Munich, Germany. Her professional career began
as a city planner. She then moved to academia and today is a professor in the Department of Political Science.
Starting in Fall 2006,
Dr. Freyss assumed the position of Director of the Master of Science
in Public Administration Program (MSPA). She is the main adviser for
prospective and current MSPA students.
TEACHING INTERESTS
As a faculty member in the Master of Science
in Public Administration Program (MSPA), Dr. Freyss teaches 400-and
500-level courses in organization theory, human resource management, labor
relations, the management of nonprofit organizations, research methods,
and program evaluation.
In the field of
political science, Dr. Freyss offers the upper-division theme course
POLS 310, Gender, Politics, and Government and the general education
course POLS 150, Government and American Society.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Freyss' research interests are in the areas of organizational
innovations in local government, the management of human capital, as well as
capacity building of nonprofit organizations. She is presently
working on the third edition of Human Resource Management in Local
Government: An Essential Guide, published by the International
City/County Management Association.
