INTRODUCTION

A Nigerian born scholar, schooled at the University of Ibadan (The Premier University-GREAT UI) and at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Olaiya obtained his Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Ola taught for nine years at the University/College of Charleston, SC. He is presently a Professor of Early Childhood Education at California State University, Los Angeles, USA.  He taught at different levels from Kindergarten to Grade 12 both in Nigeria and in Canada.

TEACHING INTERESTS

He is currently teaching mostly graduate courses in early childhood education, graduate program coordinator, and also serves as a consultant with both public and private schools.

RESEARCH

A)   The Decline of Play-Based Programs among Children Ages 3-6, and the Effects on Children's Learning and Motivation: A Comparative Analysis of Head Start,
 Reggio Emilia, and the Public School Programs in South Carolina and California. (2017)

B) The Beginning Teachers: Exploring their Successes, Struggles, Challenges, and the Contextual Factors Influencing Their Work. This study will increase understanding of how first-year teachers interpret and make decisions of their teaching world. It will give new teachers insight on how to mentally prepare themselves and gain insight into their professional growth and development.
