TEACHING INTERESTS

Dr. Warter-Perez teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in computer engineering .  She also team-teaches a course in bioinformatics.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Her research interests include computer architecture, high-performance processors, compilers, and embedded systems.

Dr. Warter-Perez is the Director/PI of the IMPACT LA NSF GK12 Program (NSF Award 0742426).  The IMPACT LA NSF GK-12 program partners graduate teaching fellows with middle and high school science and math teachers within the East Los Angeles area. The program goals are to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum, inform and inspire students about careers in science and engineering, and improve the graduate fellows' ability to communicate their research to a broad audience.

Dr. Warter-Perez is involved in developing active-learning teaching methodologies that integrate project-based learning into the classroom using Tablet PCs.  She is a collaborator in the HP Collaborative Learning Center (HPCLC), PI of the NSF CCLI Collaborative PBL Design Experience in Digital Engineering Project (NSF Award 0737130), and co-director of the HP Technology for Teaching Leadership project at CSULA.

Previously, Dr. Warter-Perez was a co-director of the NSF/NIH Southern California Bioinformatics Summer Institute (SoCalBSI) where she taught Python programming for developing bioinformatics tools.
