INTRODUCTION
I have taught at CSULA for 28 years. I grew up in Buffalo, New York, and lived and worked in New York City before moving to California. I am married and have three daughters.
TEACHING INTERESTS
My major teaching area is early childhood special education, with an emphasis on infants at risk for the development of disabilities. My favorite class, though, is our introductory class in special education, ED SP 400. I was a teacher of deaf children for 11 years and still teach about deafness through our Low Incidence Early Childhood Special Education (LIECSE) program.
RESEARCH
My current interest is early literacy in children with disabilities, particularly the usefulness of interactive models of storybook reading.
