There will be a quiz on Wed., Nov. 30. The quiz will be on sections 9.1 and 9.2. It will be open book and open notes, but NO CALCULATORS. For the quiz, you will only need to graph parabolas, circles, and ellipses—you will not need to find foci, vertices, directrices, etc.
To get ready for this quiz, you may want to do some (or, if you're crazy, all) of the following practice problems:
9.1: #1-6, 7-14 (just graph the equation), 21-30 (just graph the equation)
9.2: #1-6, 7-22, 23-30 (just graph the equation), 37-46 (just graph the equation)

Here is the quiz/project that is due Wed., Nov. 23:
Find the area, in square feet, of the Pentagon (including the courtyard in the middle). You need to know that each outside wall is 921 feet long.
This quiz/project is untimed, open book, open note. You may use a calculator if you want to, but you must also include an exact answer.
For a bonus, calculate how much the Pentagon would have paid in property taxes in 2001, if it were a commercial property. The tax rate on such properties was $0.242 per square foot.
When learning the material in sections 7.1 and 7.2, you may want to try these practice problems:
7.1: #1-4, 6-9, 11, 13, 15-17, 20-27, 32
7.2: #1-4, 6-9, 11, 13-23, 25-28, 34
