I am a very outgoing person. I like to have fun. I am the type of person that everyone would like to be around because I bring a good atmosphere. I love to play sports. I like basketball, football, volleyball, and softball. I love to travel and meet new people. I love to dance and listen to all types of music. My goal in life is to succeed and not let anyone stop me from becoming what I want to be. I love to surf the web and create websites. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and going to the movies. I am an all around type person. I am willing to try almost anything. As long as I have GOD and my family behind me, I know that everything will go as planned because I know HE can make a way. Apartment #: 2304 Roommate: Leah Ann Vilkanskas What did you think about living in your apartment? My apartment was cool. If it wasn’t cool people wouldn’t always want to hang out in my apartment. Everyone in my apartment was cool. We had some rough times, but we came through them. Our apartment was the place to be. We had everything from food to games to good music to movies. I really liked how we were able to make a schedule and everyone pulled their weight. What did you learn from being in an apartment with other people? I learned so much from being in an apartment with complete strangers from different backgrounds and different places. I learned that everyone does things differently. Being in an apartment with all girls was kind of fun. We shared some of the same interests and we got to talk about all things that we enjoyed doing. Describe what you did and learned at your summer work site. I work at the Multidisciplinary Flight Dynamics and Control Laboratory at Cal State L.A. I am learning about Aerodynamics. I have done research on parts of an airplane, the four basic forces involved in the flight of an airplane, basic principles of aerodynamics, and how to draw winglets. I learned how to use the CAD program, I-DEAS. This program helps me draw wings, winglets, and other shapes. This also helps me mesh different parts of a wing. I learned how to run test on the winglets and compare my results to actual results that were tested on the same winglets. At my worksite, the people build planes and test them. I really enjoy working with my mentor and everyone else around. They are very nice and willing to help me. What was your favorite experience at NASA SHARP? My favorite experience
would have to be the entire Jay Leno experience. From waking up at 5 in
the morning to go get tickets to actually shaking his hand. About 12 of
us woke up at 5 in the morning to go stand in the line to get tickets.
We get there at 6am and the place doesn’t open until 8am. I went crazy,
but then we had orange juice and donuts. I felt much better than. Haha.
So to forget about the time we had, we sat there for a while played
games, read Harry Potter books that they had just purchased the day
before (I never knew people could be so into Harry Potter), slept,
listened to music and talked on the phone. The doors opened and we got
our tickets. Later, that day we went back to the studio to stand in line
for the taping. We were almost at the end of the line. So we are sitting
outside AGAIN, waiting in another line to be searched. So we get
searched and I am one of the people in the front of the line, until this
guy comes up and asks us how many are in our party and I say 21. He asks
4 of us did we want to “School” (who says that anymore) them on seats.
I'm like sure why not. So he takes Kawthar, Pearl, Ray, and I to the
second row. I'm thinking to myself “Oh My Goodness”. Of course all the
other sharpies were mad because I Words to live by: “We have not chosen the circumstances in which we were born, but we can determine the circumstances in which we live.” –Senator Barack Obama
