INTRODUCTION
Prior to arriving at CSULA in January 2003, Dr. Remson was a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at Arizona State University where she taught courses and supervised clinical practice in developmental language disorders and fluency disorders (stuttering). While at ASU, she was also the project evaluator for a Head Start Teaching Center grant. She spent three years as a Regional Coordinator of Special Education with the Louisiana State Department of Education following 10 years as the speech and language evaluator and coordinator with a special education evaluation team also in Louisiana.
TEACHING INTERESTS
Teaching interests include language-learning disorders in school-aged children, functional (child-centered) language intervention, supervision and pedagogy, the relationship between oral and written language disorders, and classroom-based assessment and intervention.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
The research focus has been narrative development in children and adolescents, use of storybooks by Head Start teachers, reflective practice in communication disorders, reflective journals as a pedagogical tool, and classroom-based intervention.
