Bulimia Nervosa

• Binge-Purge syndrome

  • intake of a large amount a food in a short period of time
  • use of vomiting, laxatives, diuretics, exercise to purge

• fluid & electrolyte imbalances, sore throat, dental decay, vomiting becomes automatic, death is possible

• Behavior modification and counseling

• Treatment prognosis good

• More prevalent than Anorexia Nervosa at 10-15% of college age females
