Fish Oils
Omega-3 fatty acids in fish appear to be protective against CHD
Eat at least one portion of fish weekly to get this protective effect
Fish oils (sold in health foods stores) not a good idea. Overdoses linked to:
- impaired immune function
- ? LDL
- may contain toxins
- may elevate vitamins A & D to toxic levels
- may alter blood coagulation
- may worsen type II diabetes
