Proteins are made up of amino acids. The amino acids are made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. It is the nitrogen which makes proteins unique.
Amino Acids are like the letters of the alphabet with the proteins being the words.
There are about 20 amino acids, with 9 of them being essential.
There are thousands of different proteins in our bodies!
