Karen Nielsen-Menicucci
Office: ST 309 I joined the California State University, Los Angeles School of Nursing faculty in Fall, 1999 and have, so far, enjoyed every minute of my time here. I have found that my students, peers and the campus have exceeded my expectations. I have made the commitment to continue my teaching career at CSULA. My areas of interest and teaching in the field of nursing are varied. I have focused most of my time in community health nursing, nursing research and family nursing. I am an advisor for the School Nurse Credential Program. In addition, I have also tried to remain clinically competent in both public health and pediatric nursing. I hold ANCC board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Community Health Nursing and a Clinical Nurse Specialist license from the State of California. Prior to teaching at CSULA, I was an Associate Professor at Pacific Union College, Los Angeles Campus for 15 years. Research has long been one of my interests. My dissertation was titled, Keeping Safe: Field Public Health Nurses' Perceptions. My primary interest areas in research include: public health nursing practice, field worker safety, faculty practice, nursing faculty job satisfaction, U.S. immunization practices and health promotion. In 2004, I was invited by the APHA to present my research during the National Public Health Association conference in Washington D.C. http://apha.confex.com/apha/132am/techprogram/paper_84770.htm Ph.D. Nursing M.S.
