I have worked in the aviation industry since 1984 and have been involved in aviation education since 1993. In 1984 I began my involvement in airport finance, working as a financial analyst for O'Hare Associates, consultant to the City of Chicago for the $2 billion expansion of O'Hare Airport. In 1987 I was invited to join the City of Chicago's aviation planning team to help coordinate the capital improvement projects being planned, designed and constructed within the Chicago airport system. In 1991, I joined a consortium of consultants representing the international air carriers at O'Hare.
I have taught at the university level since 1993. I have tried to emphasize the practical aspects of aviation as a vocation, giving students a 'real world' view of the industry and teaching them skills that will help them excel in the industry.
I have published in broad areas of aviation, including aviation security, airport finance and aircraft transmission systems. My current area of research is a review of the potential impacts of microjet air taxi operators on Southern California airports. I have also been involved in developing classes to be taught long distance, using a variety of applications located on class web pages.
