INTRODUCTION

Ms. Emerson graduated from CSULA with a bachelors in social work in 1994, received her masters of science in social work from Columbia University in 1997. She has experience in a variety of settings, including children and families, mental health, forensics, and administration.

TEACHING INTERESTS

Ms. Emerson has been teaching in the School of Social Work since Spring 2001. She hopes to help influence future social workers to see the positive in their clients.

RESEARCH

Ms. Emerson is currently completting her dissertation on the status of collaboration among domestic services providers. After working for Los Angeles County's domestic violence unit for four years, she realized there were multiple services gaps. She hopes that with her rearch Los Angeles county will be able to develop a collaborative community response approach to treating domestic violence.
