Bloom’s Taxonomy Level-Knowledge
Materials: science journals, insect book worksheets.
Time: 40 minutes
Introduction: The teacher will begin the lesson by having the students get out their science journals for a review on the insects they learned. The teacher will ask the students questions about insects while letting them look through their science journals if they do not know the answer. When the teacher is finished asking questions the students will put their science journals in their desks.
Development: The teacher will tell the students they are going to be
designing their own insect books.
-The teacher will tell the students they need to follow the directions
on each page of their insect books in order to
complete it correctly.
-The teacher will show the insect books to the class and read each
page of directions to them.
-The students need to answer the questions and draw illustrations on
each page without looking through insect
books or their science journals for information.
-The students must work by themselves on this assignment.
-The teacher will tell the students the insect books are going to be
graded on their
knowledge of insects, grammar, and their illustrations.
Closure: When all students complete their stories the teacher will give
examples of correct answers to the books (this could be the next day, depending
on how long they take to complete).
Assessment: Teacher will grade insect books according to a rubric
(see following page).
