Objectives: SWBAT - Distinguish between a Lizard and an Amphibian by the look
and feel of the animal’s skin.
            - List physical characteristics of both groups.
            - Identify examples of each group with 90% accuracy.
            - Draw a picture of an animal from each group that is      anatomically correct.
            - Demonstrate the ability to write scientifically correct
   observations.
Materials: Resin example of a snake, frog, salamander, and a lizard. Observation  sheet, blue science folder and crayons, and lizard and amphibian posters.
Advanced organizer: The book, Frogs, by Jean Gibbons.
Prompt: Make a comparison between the metamorphosis of the butterfly to that  of the frog.
Procedure: Teacher will break class into four groups, and give each group a resin  animal and an observation sheet. The students will have five minutes to  make observations about each animal. After 20 minutes the groups will  come back together as a whole and will discuss how they made their  observations to determine which animals were grouped together.
Closure: As a group, the class will come up with definitions of both animals.
Assessment: Draw a picture of an amphibian and a reptile in the blue science  folders and list characteristics of each.
