How Plants and Animals Help Us
Objectives: SWBAT- List several ways in which we benefit from plants,
including food, shelter, clothing, and most importantly,
breathing.
- Lit
several ways in which we benefit from animals, including
food, clothing and labor.
Materials: Teacher should wear clothes that include; cotton, wool, leather, and straw if possible. Bring in examples of food from both groups. Candy.
Prompt: Teacher standing in front of room with garments on.
Procedure: Ask questions to elicit answers about the importance of plants and animals. Show products brought in and go through the same procedure. Try to exaggerate your breathing so that you can discuss the O2-- CO2 exchange with plants. Talk about how animals helped us before the industrial age, etc.
Closure: Because this is the last lesson on animals have candy to give out and explain the contributions of both the plants and animals made to make each particular kind of candy.
Assessment: A question on the last test.
