Format of the Final

Prerequisites Completion of English 102 with a grade of C or better at CSULA, or the equivalent.

Description

English 200C is the second half of the lower-division survey of British Literature offered at CSU Los Angeles. In this course, we will examine significant literary texts from the restoration of monarchial rule in Britain in 1660 up to the present time. We will begin the process of locating these texts in their specific historical and cultural contexts as well as in the broader and more contentious context of literary and aesthetic history. Since we will attempt to cover some three and a half centuries in less than ten weeks, we will be forced to omit much, generalize frequently, and move too quickly.

Because this is a lecture-discussion class rather than a formal lecture course, active and informed contribution to class discussion is expected from all students.
