INTRODUCTION
Since my arrival at CSULA seven years ago I have had the pleasure of teaching and working with a wonderfully diverse and talented group of faculty and students. The Charter College places students first and tries to support their goals in becoming highly effective urban teachers in the LA area.
TEACHING INTERESTS
My current research interests are in classroom reading research, literacy assessment, children's literature, and science and literacy. I also have a strong interest in promoting the voices of urban teachers towards school reform.
RESEARCH
For several years I have been involved with a colleague anlayzing data related to MA candidate's Reading and Language Arts comprehensive exams (case studies) and teacher knowledge and reflective judgement. I recently have been involved in a project looking at best teaching practices for middle school struggling readers.
