Summer Transportation Institute 1999
To meet the changing needs of the transportation industry work force and provide opportunities for students to enroll in these discipline, California State University, Los Angeles (CSLA) hosted the 1999 Summer Transportation Institute (STI) program between July 26 and August 20, 1999 with twenty high school participants.
This program responded to the national need to recruit secondary school students into the transportation field. Tailored, as well, to specific needs and capabilities of the campus, the program enabled CSLA to provide an orientation to engineering and technology programs and to create an awareness of the attractive career choices and opportunities that exist in the transportation industry.
