INTRODUCTION
Dr. Hong is a Professor in the Division of Special Education and Counseling. He is a Licensed Psychologist and a Diplomate in Couple & Family Psychology - American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Hong has extensive experience in providing mental health services in community and school settings. He is active in many professional organizations. Currently he is President of the Society for Family Psychology – Division 43 of the American Psychological Association. He has also served 2 terms as Vice President for Public Interest & Diversity of the Society. He has served as a Board Member of the Asian American Psychological Association. Dr. Hong is the recipient of The Distinguished Contribution Award given by the Asian American Psychological Association in 2002.
TEACHING INTERESTS
Dr. Hong teaches in the areas of marriage, family, and child counseling, school counseling, and school psychology.
RESEARCH
Dr. Hong's professional interests are in the areas of multicultural counseling and therapy, Asian American mental health issues, family psychology, school-based psychological services, interdisciplinary collaboration and mental health service delivery models. He has presented and published extensively on these issues.
