SYLLABUS

Instructor:

Prerequisites: Math 206 with C or better.

Textbook: Stewart, Essential Calculus, the same textbook as for Math 206. We will supplement this text with Chapter 9 Differential Equations from Stewart, Calculus, 5ed.

Homework/Quizzes: I will assign homework regularly, but it will not be collected or graded. Instead, most Mondays, there will be a 15 minute quiz on the homework from the previous week.

• When I calculate your final grade I will drop the lowest quiz score.
• The quizzes and homework are posted on the web, linked to this page.

Course Material:

• Essential Calculus - 5.1-5.5, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1,7.2
• Calculus, 5ed.: 9.1-9.5
• Essential Calculus - 11.1-11.8 as time allows

Exams: The midterm exam will be during regular class time. Both exams will be in the usual lecture room: SH C173
Midterm Exam: Wednesday, April 30
Final: Wednesday, June 4, 8:00-10:30

Grades: Your final grade will be determined from the exams and homework with the following weights:
Final exam: 50%
Midterm exam: 25%
Quizzes : 25%
