INTRODUCTION
Dr. Evangelista Jr. holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Ceara, Brazil; and Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Evangelista Junior is an active member of the Concrete Materials and Placement Techniques Committee (AFN40) of the Transportation research Board (TRB). He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr. Evangelista has been researching in computational mechanics (finite elements and meshless methods); computational and experimental fracture and damage mechanics, multi-scale and constitutive modeling of engineering materials; use of new technologies to improve properties and performance of concrete and other cementitious materials; and design of innovative and sustainable construction materials and infrastructure systems such as highway pavements, airfield concrete slabs, and bridges.
TEACHING INTERESTS
mechanics of structures and materials, computational methods in engineering
RESEARCH
sustainable infrastructure systems, fracture and failure of materials, cementitious materials, fiber reinforced concrete, recycled materials, Generalized/Extended Finite Element Method, airports infrastructure, and pavements.
