Geographical Explorations
Short Description:
"Amerigo Vespucci presents Geogrphical Explorations of Contemporary Florence, Italy, Brazil, and Guyana" offers learners an opportunity to explore information on three regions (currently countries) Amerigo Vespucci, the explorer, navigated in his voyage through the Americas.
Objectives:
Students will demonstrate acquired knowledge of reading passages based on Italy, Brazil, and Guyana through answering questions in a multiple choice format.
Students will practice using the World Wide Web to acquire additional information on other regions not part of the focus of this project.
Students will practice the reading process which includes preview, read, review when necessary. This process becomes necessary in order to progress through the program.
Module One Objectives: Florence, Italy
Students will analyze current information on Florence, Italy concerning climate, history, economy, and famous artists and the location of their works in the city.
Students will answer three questions in an "open book" quiz format based on their reading analysis and proceed to module two.
Module Two Objectives:Brazil
Students will analyze current information on Brazil concerning population, the northern region, major cities, and languages spoken.
Students will answer four questions in an "open book" quiz format based on their reading analysis and proceed to module three.
Module Three Objectives:Guyana
Students will analyze current information on Guyana concerning geography, climate, population, principal imports, and exchange rate(s).
Students will answer three questions in an "open book" quiz format based on their reading analysis and terminate the program with the option to explore the Internet sites for more information on regions visited by Amerigo Vespucci.
