Equator

The equator is a great circle midway between the poles. It divides the earth in two halves that we call north and south hemispheres.

Degree

A degree is a unit of measurement for angles. If you cut a circumference in 360 equal pieces, each one would be one degree. Therefore one degree is a 1/360 of a circumference.
