Walking along the beach after a storm, you will often find a lot of seaweed washed ashore. Seaweed is a type of algae that grows in marine habitats. Seaweed usually attaches itself to the ocean bottom or to other solid objects. Seaweed is important to all of the oceans because they provide food and protection for many animals.
