The Colorado Plateau

Get along little doggy! Howdy folks! You now have traveled into the Colorado Plateau. This area is made up of many plateaus that lie several thousand feet above sea level. Wow! That's a long way up!

A lot of the land is very flat in this area. However, in some areas where the Colorado River has cut through, it has created deep canyons. The most famous of all these canyons is the GRAND CANYON. It is about a mile deep in some places! Hello down there!

The GRAND CANYON was formed millions of years ago. As the Colorado River flowed through the land, it gradually cut deeper and deeper in to the earth's suface. Eventually, the GRAND CANYON was formed!
