The Coastal Plain Region

Grab you swimsuit because here you can go swimming! The Coastal Plain Region is very low and flat. In areas inland it can be a little higher, but only a few places are more than 1,000 feet above sea level! Wow!

Along the coast of Texas there are level areas with good soil for growing peanuts and cotton. Under the surface of the Coastal Plain are large deposits of oil. A lot of this oil is refined into gasoline for our cars.

Farther east along the Coastal Plain you will find lands that are low and marshy. In this area rice is grown and a lot of fishing can be done. Many of the bays are crowded with fishing boats!
