Introduction

Ethan Lipton currently holds the position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs–Planning and Resources at California State University, Los Angeles.

Dr. Lipton serves as a member of the Academic Affairs management team and participates in the strategic and tactical planning efforts of Academic Affairs and the University. He provides leadership and coordinates short and long-range academic planning to meet changing needs, formulating and implementing goals, objectives, and policies in the areas of Academic Affairs fiscal and resource management and analysis, enrollment management, facilities utilization, and instructional and administrative technology planning in coordination with other units of the University. Dr. Lipton interacts with campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the public in ensuring the University's academic mission is achieved and serves as chair of the Enrollment Management Planning Committee, chair of the Space Management Subcommittee, a member of the University Strategic Planning Committee and other committees, task forces and working groups as assigned by the Provost.

Dr. Lipton is responsible for the management and planning of Academic Affairs resources. As such, provides support to the Provost and Senior Academic Affairsadministrators, and Deans by providing timely and accurate information, resource allocations models, analysis and training. This includes the development and implementation of suitable management policies, procedures and reports in the areas of budgeting, financial analysis, the procurement and inventory maintenance of all instructional and academic support equipment, facilities utilization, capital planning efforts, the hiring of staff and participating in the funding and recruitment process for tenure-track faculty.
