INTRODUCTION
My main interests can be found in the areas of crime, delinquency,
deviance, education, and methods of social research. I have
published numerous articles and books in these areas. I have been a
faculty member at Cal State LA for close to twenty six years, and taught
for five years at the State University of New York-Geneseo before coming
here. I have also served as Chair of the Sociology Department
at Cal State LA (1987 to 1993) and Interim Chair of Department of
Criminal Justice at Cal State LA (1993 to 1994). I am currently the
Chair of Sociology at Cal State LA, having been appointed in the Fall of
1999.
TEACHING INTERESTS
I have strong teaching and research interests in the area of crime and
deviance, and particularly youth deviance and delinquency.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am currently in the process of revising a couple of my books (e.g.,
Deviant Behavior, and How the School Manufactures Misfits).
