INTRODUCTION
My main interests can be found in the areas of crime, delinquency,
deviance, education, and methods of social research. I have
published numerous articles and books in these areas. I was a
faculty member at Cal State LA for twenty eight years, and taught
for five years at the State University of New York-Geneseo before coming
here. I served as Chair of the Sociology Department
at Cal State LA (1987 to 1993 and 1999 to 2004) and Interim Chair of Department of
Criminal Justice at Cal State LA (1993 to 1994). I am currently a
Professor Emeritus at Cal State LA.
TEACHING INTERESTS
I have strong teaching and research interests in the area of crime and
deviance, and particularly youth deviance and delinquency.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am currently in the process of revising a couple of my books (e.g.,
Deviant Behavior, and How the School Manufactures Misfits).
