| This Page is dedicated to the memory of my teacher and friend, the grandfather of Krav Maga, Grand Master Sergeant Major Emi (Imi) Lichtenfeld. Eventhough Krav Maga is Imi's brain child, its current status may be also attributed to the many Master Instructors that learned from Imi and further refined his style of self-defense. The list of contributors must have grown considerably since my IDF days as Combat Fitness Sergeant (1974-75), and Combat Fitness Officer (1976-78). Following are the names of some of my former teachers and colleagues, who's dedication, and exceptional skills helped Krav Maga evolve into a no nonesense, highly respected style: Eli Avigzar, Amos Bar-Hama, Shlomo Ben Gal, Yona Melnik, and Gadi Scornick. |

The outlet stance used in Krav Maga stems from Emi Lichtenfeld's experience as a champion boxer and wrestler. It is designed for a balanced mix of stability and potential for mobility in any desired direction. Take note of the body's line of gravity, and its overal relaxed demeanor. |

A right handed individual is advised to assume an outlet stance with the left foot and left shoulder and arm in front. This stance allows a comfortable left hand attack and right hand defense and counter attack. Also it sets the right foot for attack from the back and the left foot for stability, defense, and/or counter attack (take note that the attacking [left] arm's elbow is never locked). |
