David B. Peterson, Ph.D. is a Professor at California State University, Los Angeles, a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Iowa-inactive), and licensed clinical psychologist (Iowa, New York, Illinois, and California) with expertise in rehabilitation psychology and comprehensive assessment of biopsychosocial functioning. For nearly three decades his clinical work focused on psychiatric rehabilitation and neuropsychological functioning. He serves as a medical expert for the Social Security Administration’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. Dr. Peterson’s scholarship has focused on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), and computer-based training in clinical problem solving. He has contributed to 55 scholarly publications, 45 local and national presentations, directed six research and training grants totaling over $1.7 million, and is a member of four editorial boards for peer-reviewed journals in rehabilitation, counseling, and psychology.
