INTRODUCTION
Carolyn R. Frank is a Professor in the Charter College of Education at California State University, Los Angeles. She is Director of the Los Angeles Writing Project at Cal State LA. Her Masters in Reading and Language Arts is from the University of Nevada, Reno. Dr. Frank was an elementary classroom teacher in both Nevada and California for 15 years.
TEACHING INTERESTS
Dr. Frank teaches elementary teachers about writing instruction. Her focus has been EDEL 416 where she teaches preservice teachers how to observe writing workshop in writing workshop classes through ethnography. Students also learn how to engage in home visits and how to participate in ethnographic interviews with children and parents.
RESEARCH
Dr. Frank's research interests focus on the classrooms of writing project teachers. Her research methods include using ethnography to observe and interview. She is a member of the Santa Barbara Classroom Discourse Group and the South Coast Writing Project.
