INTRODUCTION

Angela Young received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources from Florida State University. She began teaching at California State University, Los Angeles in 1997.She has presented her research at numerous conferences including National Academy of Management, American Psychological Association, and Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Three conferences papers were awarded "best paper" at Western Academy of Management and Institute for Behavioral and Applied Management. Publications include articles in Journal of Mangement, Human Resource Management Review, and other journals. Prior to 1997, Angela worked in corporate information systems for several years before starting her own business specializing in developing and conducting training on information systems technology. She earned her MBA from the California State University at Sacramento and her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

TEACHING INTERESTS

My teaching interests focus on human resource management and general management topics. I have taught several courses including training and development, staffing, compensation, interpersonal skill development, and special topics in human resource management. My goal in teaching is to instill in my students the value of learning and applying knowledge.

RESEARCH

My research interests focus primarily on issues related to relationship development in the workplace and include topics such as mentoring, disempowerment and its impact on individuals, groups, and productivity, gender-related behavior and dynamics and its impact on individuals in the workplace, and enhancing creativity of individuals and teams.
