Alan Muchlinski

Dr. Muchlinski has been a faculty member at California State University, Los Angeles since 1979. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 1984 and to the rank of Professor in 1988. In 1982 Dr. Muchlinski founded the University General Education Honors Program and he directed this program until 1988 when he assumed the duties of Chairperson in the Department of Biology. Dr. Muchlinski is currently the Chairperson of the Department of Biology and Microbiology. Dr. Muchlinski has published numerous articles in scientific journals on the general topic of temperature regulation. Many of his published articles are co-authored by former and current Cal State LA undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Muchlinski received the Cal State LA Outstanding Professor Award in 1987.
Dr. Muchlinski has taught courses in introductory biology, mammalogy, physiological ecology, and toxicology.
Dr. Muchlinski's research program which focuses on aspects of temperature regulation during fever in various animal species has been funded since 1988 by the National Institutes of Health.
